3 Tablescapes + Place Settings for your Thanksgiving Table

November 10, 2017

Holiday

The warmth of the oven, the smell of turkey, the laughter of family, the clinking of glasses… These are the thoughts that fill our minds and have us excited for the holiday that so close we can almost taste it!

With inspiration everywhere you turn, this is a favorite time of year when it comes to planning and decorating. Neutral colors and rich palettes are our love language. And lucky for us, both are accepted and even encouraged in the autumn months.

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to create a lovely table look, and there are so many ways to show your personal style while also being festive.
We have collected some ideas to help inspire your Thanksgiving tablescape + place settings this year.

Tablescapes:

Set the tone for your turkey dinner by paying special attention to presentation. This will welcome your guests to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

No. 1

collection of pumpkins, kale and greenery on a striped tablecloth

via Roxie Daisy

Gather all the uncarved pumpkins (in the more untraditional colors) that you have saved from this year’s trip to the pumpkin patch, a few heads of cabbage, kale and other greens to create a centerpiece on your favorite tray. We just love a centerpiece made of (mostly) edible things.

Add an unexpected neutral striped tablecloth/runner + neutral linen napkins (or even the reverse). And don’t be afraid to mix and match different pieces in the same color palette!

Shop the look:

striped tablecloth, light gray napkin, striped napkin

1, 2, 3

No. 2

tablescape with gerrnery runner and natural pumpkins

via Rooms for Rent

Much like tablescape No.1, this look also involves your favorite tray, uncarved pumpkins (in more traditional colors this time) and other gourds. Add a runner of greenery, the wedding trend we hope never fades away, and candlesticks to create some height. Finish this clean look with touches of copper + gold.

Shop the look:

greenery, wooden tray, gold candlesticks

1, 2, 3

No. 3

floral arrangement centerpieces, neutral plates, bold plum napkins

via Domino + The Turquoise Home

Think a little outside the box with jewel tones + copper details. Though these colors aren’t exactly the first to come to mind for Thanksgiving, we are obsessed! Layers of rich plum and berry colors are a perfect way to elicit the warm and cozy feeling we all seek – especially during the holidays.

Bonus points if you are lucky enough to have a farmhouse table + these fabulous copper chairs.

Shop the look:

seep plum silk table runner and copper carafe

1, 2

Place Settings:

While tablescapes are important, place settings are especially valuable since they add a personal touch to each individual space. Consider the small details and even place cards. Go the extra step to make your guests feel loved and valued.

No. 1

antique silverware wrapped with a burnt orange velvet ribbon

via Style Me Pretty

Shop the family heirlooms or antique stores for mismatched flatware. Tie the look together with your favorite autumn tone of ribbon, or even mix in a couple different ribbons! Mmm… There is something so lux about a touch of velvet.

Shop the look:

burnt orange velvet ribbon, scalloped white plate, mustard silk ribbon

1, 2, 3

No. 2

butcher paper, written and drawn on to create a place setting

via Country Living

Grab a roll of butcher paper from your local craft store to create a table runner/placemats that can easily be personalized. This paper is also a great option for the “kids’ table” as the littles can color, doodle + draw all their little hearts desire.

If you are feeling extra inspired, display the Thanksgiving dinner menu on a roll of butcher paper hung on the wall.

Shop the look:

butcher paper on wall, amber votives

1, 2

No. 3

all white place setting, napkin tied with a ribbon and a stick added for decoration

via Inside Out

Keep things minimal with light neutrals, textures and natural elements. Pair a neutral colored tablecloth, plate and napkin with a simple ribbon + sweet little twig. A thin strip of leather or suede could also be used in place of the ribbon for a more unexpected detail.

And how beautiful would this place setting be with a minimal place card adorned with delicate calligraphy and distressed edges?

Shop the look:

leather ribbon, natural white napkin, organic shaped white plate

1, 2, 3

The holiday season is the perfect time to mix in some of your favorite pieces or provide an excuse to shop and up your tablescape game! Get outside, become inspired to create and even combine some of these concepts to make your tabletop completely your own.

Below is a collection of paired bonus products we cannot stop swooning over! Consider adding things like these that catch your eye to your tabletop this year.

brown bud vases, brown napkin rings, white and gray windowpane table runner, organic white plate, gold gather napkin rings, black bud vases

1, 2                  3, 4                 5, 6

Happy decorating!
