12 Gift Wrapping Ideas

December 8, 2017

Holiday

T minus 16 days until Christmas! This means it’s (the dreaded) crunch time to finish up holiday shopping for the remaining people on your list. But leave the creative gift wrapping inspiration to us!

12 Gift Wrapping Ideas

First things first, gather up those supplies. Take a look at all of the beautiful wrapping paper, ribbon + other embellishments to warm up that creative mind.

wrapping paper, ribbon, boxes flatlay

Let’s start with some items we always have on hand: white boxes, kraft paper + little embellishments. Though these may seem like typical items, there are so many creative uses we’d love to share with you.

The White Box

Simple is always good, so you definitely can’t go wrong with a classic white box + ribbon combo.

No. 1

white box with pink ribbon

There’s just something so sweet about a square box.

No. 2

flowers, white box wtied with ribbon and a sprig of thyme

Add a sprig of thyme (or another herb).

No. 3

white boxes tied with blue and gray ribbon

Choose a color scheme to mix + match your ribbons for a little extra character. (These aren’t the most traditional colors, but we find that non traditional colors are sometimes the most fun!)

Kraft Boxes + Paper

The beauty of kraft is that it can work for any occasion (as long as you have the right accessories) since there are endless possibilities.

Add a simple holiday phrase or gift tag with washi tape.

Pair with a patterned paper to help make the design + other details shine.

No. 7

Top with a metallic bow for an unexpected combo. Add a little bell + you’re golden! (See what we did there?)

Personalization + Embellishment

Anyone else watch What Not To Wear back in the day? Remember Clinton & Stacey’s mantra: color, texture, pattern, shine? Why not apply this to gift wrapping?

No. 8

gray box tied with pink ribbon with personalized picture tags

Instead of a gift tag, why not top your gifts with a square print? (We love these 5×5 prints from Artifact Uprising.) Pair your colored print with a sprig of greenery + a complimentary shade of ribbon.

No. 9

silk ribbon calligraphy tags

Another modern take on gift tags is calligraphy on delicate silk ribbon.

No. 10

Does someone on your list have a major sweet tooth? Why not add a festive striped candy topper secured with woven twine?

No. 11

wooden beads embellish a gift

String unfinished wooden beads on ribbon for a unique touch. Consider adding a wide ribbon underneath for a layered look.

Or get even more creative + whip up one of these snowflake ornaments.

No. 12

printable wrapping adorned with ornaments

Play with pattern. Add a tag featuring clean design + accent with mini sparkling ornaments.

(P.S. This wrapping paper is actually a printable.)

We truly believe a gift’s packaging should be just as memorable as its contents. Gift wrapping sets the tone + can have the recipient feeling extra appreciated because of the time invested. Don’t forget to add little touches to make them smile. A sweet little wooden star, velvet ribbon, mini pinecone or even a sweet treat.

Most importantly, be creative. You are wrapping special gifts for special people. A little embellishment + attention to detail can go a long way.
